A Mothers thoughts on her son becoming a police officer
It seems in this day and age that wrong is becoming what is right and what's right is becoming wrong and unpopular. The energy that is being expelled by so many people in our country seems to be fueling an evil that is out of control. People are hiding behind their own prejudice and making excuses for their own actions, trying to blame everyone but themselves. Our society doesn't want to believe that their own actions have any kind of consequence. People don't think they are responsible for their own choices. It has become an age of entitlement were people think they are owed things without working for it or earning it. It has become the norm to ignore any kind of morals because people think its ok to do, say, and wear what ever they want. Their is no common courtesy or respect for others displayed in society much any more at all. All these things make me very nervous to have a son that wants to be a police officer. It is becoming more unsafe as people have no regard for the laws of our land or have any kind of conscious at all. As I read the headlines of cops being shot by snipers because the person wanted to kill white people I think, good grief how in the world do these kinds of people justify their horrible behavior. Someday my son wants to be a cop, and he is not prejudice or an evil person. He believes in upholding the law. He is kind, smart, loyal. He is an Eagle Scout and believes all the things he was taught. Someday he could be that cop someone shoots because they think their making some point. Sorry, but there is no point to that. It's just plain stupid. My son doesn't hate you, he wants to be a cop to uphold the law and keep people safe. These people doing these demonstrations are doing nothing to keep anyone safe. Specially by shooting Police officers, it just makes you look like a criminal, a low life, someone who should be in jail. If you want a better life, you want to be treated differently then quit having an attitude, quit being the racist you are accusing everyone else of being, do unto others as you would have done unto you. Don't shoot my son because someone wronged you, it's not his fault.
